3 Day Restricted Use Permits
A 3-Day Restricted Use Permit (3-Day Permit) allows a person to legally operate an unregistered vehicle from the vehicle’s present location to a specified destination. Valid for emissions testing, vehicle inspection and title application.
30 Day General Use Permits
The 30-Day General Use Permit allows an unregistered vehicle to operate on the roadway for a 30 day period, and can be issued only once in a 12 month period. The 30-Day General Use Permit is valid in and out-of-state and has no movement restrictions or residency requirements.
90 Day Registration Permits
Suitable for Arizona residents who do not have complete vehicle registration documentation. This allows drivers to operate their vehicle while in the process of obtaining permanent registration.
3-Day Temporary Registration
A 3-Day Restricted Use Permit (3-Day Permit) allows a person to legally operate an unregistered vehicle from the vehicle’s present location to a specified destination. A restricted use permit is only valid for:
- Emissions testing
- Vehicle inspection
- Title and/or registration application
- Vehicle repair to comply with emissions or inspection
Restricted use permits are valid for three business days following its purchase (weekends and holidays are excluded). In order to obtain a restricted use 3-day temporary permit, you will need vehicle information.


30-Day Temporary Registration
30-Day Permits can be issued when:
- All other permit options have been exhausted or no other permit option applies
- The vehicle requires repairs
- The owner desires to sell the vehicle after having transferred the plate credit to another vehicle
Anyone can apply for the permit with proof of ownership or proof of a physical inspection.*
90-Day Temporary Registration
The 90-Day Resident Registration allows Arizona residents to operate their unregistered vehicle on an Arizona roadway for a 90 calendar-day period while they take care of issues preventing their vehicle from being titled or registered in Arizona. The 90-Day Resident Registration is valid in and out-of-state and has no movement restrictions.
Anyone can apply for the permit with proof of ownership or proof of a physical inspection.*
